Bio:
I started taking pictures on my dad’s brownie when I was 10.
If you'll excuse the pun, something just "clicked:" I somehow
understood light, composition and the "moment" from the start
and those early pictures still look pretty good, IMHO. I haven't been able
to stop since - I don't have much choice in the matter. My first assignments were in grade 11 & 12 for my high school annual and newspaper. I attended the Media Program at Capilano College and studied photography as well as audio and video production, and writing - all skills that have come in very useful over the years. I'm also a singer and musician. My band just finished recording a CD, and last year I sang at Carnegie Hall in New York with my choir. I mention this because I think that one form of creativity is enhanced by practicing others. Philosophy: It's hard to explain the philosophy, if any, I have of my work. I just press the shutter when it looks right. I also like to make sure that my client and I work together in creating a great image, and enjoy the experience. Not much of an artist's statement, but hey, the site's free. If I was to offer any advice to a budding photographer, I'd say get closer and take more pictures. Having a fast lens and tripod doesn't hurt. Equipment: Nowadays I shoot with a Nikon D200 10 meg digital and a bunch of fast, Nikon prime lenses. This camera is capable of doing magazine covers. I’ve shot 95% digital for 5 years now, and only shoot film if someone requests it. The Site: All images on this site are full frame, uncropped and uncorrected. What you see is what I saw, more or less. Speaking of software, I would have had a bear of a time coding this website without the wonderful shareware program, iView MediaPro, or without a Macintosh, BBEdit and a rock-solid host for that matter. I'm very grateful. |
